The customers approached us asking for a very specific build to house model railway dioramas and provide a workbench area. The project was constrained by various obstacles such as underground services, access and a small garden. We worked together to come up with an idea that would provide the space needed for hobbies inside and to also allow things to be brought through the converted garage, unhindered by the corner of the garden room.
At Timberventure we tend to favour ground screw foundations but we can arrange concrete pads to be laid if the customer prefers. The customers were very technically savvy and they set out, excavated and laid their own reinforced concrete base to exacting dimensions.
The prject was on a very tight budget so the Timberventure Garden Room team used a material called Strongcore to clad the structure in the most cost effective way. The product can be painted with masonry paint and is designed for use in humid climates like Hawaii and is resistant to insect and fungal attack. PIR insulation and a vapour barrier means any humidty within the garden room does not enter the tanalised timber framework.

The simple electrical plan dictated extra lighting inside the room to give a bright working area to reduce eye strain. An up/down lighter by the single door allows the customers to find their way after dusk.
Internally, real cedar skirting and elegant oak laminate flooring gives a quality feel to the space. Dry lined and painted, the room gives the feeling of a new build property with some interesting floor to ceiling glazing.
Lots of new build homes with smaller gardens and a lot of services beneath might think they don't have practical space for a garden room.
